Wild storms and destructive winds have brought down trees in Sydney, while residents across NSW, Queensland, Victoria and the ACT were also battered by heavy thunder and lightning overnight.
NSW SES recieved over 2500 calls for help during the worst of the storms, with huge trees ripped from the ground and crushing homes in its wake.
Here, a tree was brought donw on Awaba Street in Mosman in Sydney’s northern beaches.

Weatherzone said 73,700 lightning strikes hit within 100km of the CBD and 8777 strikes reached the ground as four storms barrelled towards the coast last night, dumping heavy rain and spinning up damaging winds after producing hail further west.
